Best Shopify apps for a Google Merchant Center suspension (2026)

The tools a suspended Shopify store can reach for, compared by the job each one does: feed apps, an agency, Google’s own checklist, and our own store check. Prices as each page showed them on 2 November 2026.

If Google Merchant Center has warned or suspended your store, the app store is a confusing place to be. Some tools send your products to Google. Some rewrite your product titles. Some read your website. They are not alternatives to each other, and picking the wrong kind costs you time you don’t have — Google says These reviews may take up to 7 business days to complete.

So this page compares by job, not by brand. One of the options is our own app, and it is labelled as ours wherever it appears. Every price and feature below was read on each tool’s own Shopify App Store listing or website on 2 November 2026; listings change, so check theirs before you buy.

If you want the raw version of the problem first, we sorted 259 public merchant posts and wrote up what merchants actually ask about Merchant Center suspensions.

What actually gets stores suspended

Two different things get called “a suspension”, and they need different tools.

Product-level disapprovals are about the data you send Google. A product is missing a barcode, its variants don’t match what your feed says, the price in the feed isn’t the price on the page, or an image is below Google’s 500 × 500 minimum. Google’s product data specification is the rule book, and fixing it means changing product data. Our fix guides cover the common codes one by one: missing GTIN is the one merchants hit first.

Account-level problems are usually about your website. The Misrepresentation policy is the broad one — Google describes it as covering Listings or destinations that deceive users by excluding relevant product information or providing misleading information about products and businesses. In practice the triggers are mundane: no refund policy, no contact details, a fee that only appears at checkout, a sale price that was never really the old price, or a product page Google can’t open at all. The softer warning version of the same thing is “Website needs improvement”, where Google’s instruction is plain: Make sure your website is fully functional and customized for your business and products. Remove any placeholder images, templated text, or broken links.

Read the issue named in your own account first. Then pick from the table.

Feed apps: Google & YouTube, Simprosys, DataFeedWatch

A feed app’s job is the pipe between your store and Merchant Center, and the quality of the data going down it.

The Google & YouTube app is Google’s own, and it is the one that makes the connection: its listing says it syncs your products, deals and shipping to Merchant Center, and adds Performance Max campaigns and Google Analytics. Its listing shows it is free to install, with additional charges possible, and a 4.5 rating from about 5,590 reviews. If your store talks to Merchant Center at all, this or a feed app is how.

Simprosys Google Shopping Feed submits and optimises product data feeds for Google Shopping ads and free listings, and for Meta, Pinterest and Microsoft Advertising as well, plus conversion tracking and consent mode. Its listing shows pricing from $4.99 a month with a free trial, and a 4.9 rating from about 4,960 reviews.

Data Feed Watch Product Feeds aims at bigger catalogues: one-click feeds, AI that rewrites titles and descriptions and fills in missing fields like colour, size and gender, data pulled from metafields, and Shopify Markets prices and currencies. Its listing shows pricing from $64 a month with a free trial, and a 4.7 rating from about 338 reviews.

What a feed app does not do. None of these reads your refund policy, your contact page or your checkout for the website problems behind an account-level suspension. If Merchant Center is telling you your store needs business details or a clear return policy, better feed data won’t answer it. Google’s own wording for that issue is about the site: You should add key business details, like a clear return policy or verified contact information, to build immediate trust with customers and make your products fully eligible for free listings and Shopping ads.

Hiring an agency or freelancer

The case for a person is simple: they read your account, decide what to change, change it, and write the review request. If your Google Ads account is tangled up in the same problem — and a Merchant Center suspension and an Ads suspension can follow each other — a person who works in both is worth a lot.

Prices are quoted per store and we have no verified range to publish, so get a quote. Two things to ask before you pay. First, will they name the Google policy behind each change they make? A change you can’t trace to a written rule is a change you can’t defend in a review. Second, who writes the review request, and will you see it before it goes?

What nobody can sell you is the decision. Google reviews the account, and if it goes badly the clock starts: Google support can’t bypass or shorten the cool down period.

Doing it by hand with Google’s own checklist

This costs nothing and it is often the right answer when your account names one clear issue.

The method: open the issue in Merchant Center, open Google’s help page for that exact issue, change your store until it matches what the page says, then request a review. Google’s “Request a review of your issues” page is the one to read before you press the button, and our suspension checklist for any online store walks the website side in order. If you are waiting on a decision already, how long a Merchant Center review takes sets out the waiting, the cool-downs and what Google says about each.

The cost is the risk of a half fix. Google says If your issues aren’t resolved by the second review attempt, a one-week cool down period may begin. and that the cool down period may increase with each unsuccessful review. That is the whole argument for checking your store before you spend an attempt — by hand, or with a checker that reads the pages for you.

ShieldKit (this is our app)

Ours reads your website, not your feed, so it sits on the account-level side of the table.

The free store check takes a store address, no account and no install, and runs seven checks on the pages anyone can open: your refund policy, your shipping policy, privacy and terms, contact details, the product details Google reads for free listings, whether Google can open your store at all, and whether your pages show which payment methods you take. It tells you what it found and the steps to fix it.

Installed on Shopify, or connected as a store on any other platform, it runs eleven: the seven above plus your product data, hidden fees, whether your business name, address, phone and email agree across your store and Merchant Center, and your main product images. Paid plans add the Evidence behind each problem — where we looked and what we found, in your store’s own words — refund, shipping and contact policies written from answers you give, applied to your store only when you press Apply and undoable afterwards, and an appeal letter built from the changes a later store check confirmed. Monitoring re-checks daily and emails you when a problem is new or gets worse, rather than every day. Connecting Merchant Center is read-only and brings Google’s own issue list in beside ours. The pricing is on our homepage, and the whole fix library is free to read whether you ever install anything or not.

What it does not do. It does not see inside your Merchant Center account unless you connect it, it does not change product data, and it does not decide anything — Google does the review, and we can’t promise an outcome. It reads English-language stores only. And if your problem is product-level, a feed app is the better buy.

Which should you pick?

  • Your account names a product-level issue (missing identifier, price mismatch, image rejected): a feed app. Start with the Google & YouTube app if you aren’t connected yet, then Simprosys or DataFeedWatch depending on catalogue size and how many channels you sell on.
  • Your account says Misrepresentation or “Website needs improvement”: this is website work. Read Google’s page for the exact issue, then either fix it by hand against the suspension checklist above or run a store check to see what a reader finds on your pages.
  • You have both: you need both kinds of tool. They don’t overlap.
  • You don’t want to do it yourself: get an agency quote, and insist on knowing which policy each change answers.
  • You are one review attempt in: slow down. The next attempt is the one that starts the cool down if it fails, so check everything before you press the button — our Misrepresentation fix guide is the long version, and the appeal letter template covers the request itself.

No tool on this page, ours included, can tell you what Google will decide. What they can do is make sure the attempt you spend is your best one.

FAQ

Is there an app that lifts a Google Merchant Center suspension?

No. Only Google lifts a suspension, and only after a review you request inside Merchant Center. An app can help you find and fix what Google objects to, and write the request, but no tool decides the outcome. Treat any claim otherwise as a reason to look elsewhere.

Do I need a feed app and a website tool, or just one?

It depends on what Google flagged. Product-level disapprovals (a missing GTIN, a price that doesn’t match, an image Google won’t take) are feed and product-data work, which is what a feed app is for. Account-level problems under Misrepresentation are usually about your website: your policies, your contact details, your total price. Those two live in different places, so a store with both kinds of issue needs both kinds of tool.

Is the Google & YouTube app enough on its own?

It is what connects Shopify to Merchant Center and sends your products, and its listing shows it is free to install. It is not a diagnostic tool for your website: it won’t tell you that your refund policy is missing a return window or that a fee appears only at checkout.

How much does it cost to get help from an agency?

Agencies quote per store, and we have no verified price range to publish, so ask for a quote and ask what you get for it. Two questions worth asking: will they tell you which Google policy each change answers, and will they write the review request or leave that to you?

Can I just fix it myself with Google’s help pages?

Many merchants do, and it costs nothing. The work is reading Google’s own pages for the issue named in your account, changing your store to match, then requesting a review. The risk is spending a review attempt on an incomplete fix: Google says that if your issues aren’t resolved by the second review attempt, a one-week cool down period may begin.
