About ShieldKit’s store checker
ShieldKitBot reads an online store’s public pages when someone asks ShieldKit to check that store for Google Merchant Center problems.
How to recognise it
It sends this user agent:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; ShieldKitBot/1.0; +https://www.shieldkit.app/bot)
What it reads
Public pages only: the homepage, policy and contact pages, a few product pages, robots.txt and the sitemap. It never logs in, never fills in or submits forms, never adds anything to a cart and never runs a page’s scripts.
How often
Only when a person asks for a store check, and once a day for stores whose owners turned on daily checks. It reads at most 40 pages per check, no more than 2 at a time.
How to stop it
It follows robots.txt. To block it, add User-agent: ShieldKitBot followed by Disallow: /. Or email hello@shieldkit.app and we’ll stop checking your site.
